Requiem
The Holst Singers
Stephen Layton  Director of Music

Renaissance polyphony had a late flowering on the Atlantic fringes of Europe, exemplified in England by Byrd and in the work of the Portuguese master Cardoso. We're excited to share these with you in the stunning context of London's Greek Orthodox Cathedral.

William Byrd:
Ad Dominum cum tribularer (1578); Ne Irascaris Domine (1589, Cantiones Sacrae 1).

Manuel Cardoso:
Missa Pro Defunctis (Liber primus missarum, Lisbon (1625)).

WiIliam Byrd:
Justorum animae (Gradualia book 1 1605); Quomodo cantabimus (1583).
